Snapshot Install Help
To get help regarding Snapshot features, click here.
When installing Snapshot you have the following choices:
1. "Add fields and enjoy full Snapshot functionality"
2. "Add fields for text storage only - no image storage"
3. "Do not add any fields, but continue to remind me"
4. "Do not add any fields and do not show this message again"
All four of these options are detailed below, as well as details about installing on a Remote Database.
"Add fields and enjoy full Snapshot functionality"
To ensure that you will receive FULL Snapshot functionality, select the radio button, "Add fields and enjoy full Snapshot functionality". By selecting this option, you will be installing custom ACT! fields into your ACT! database. The custom fields installed are:
- Snapshot Contact Grade
- Snapshot Contact Rank
- Snapshot Favorites
- Snapshot Image
- Snapshot Last Opportunity
- Snapshot Lookup
- Snapshot WhoIs
- Swiftpage Import Status
If you wish to install these fields manually, please see our Manual Field Install below.
Installing these fields gives you access to the following features:

The complete Who Is feature allows you to perform a number of online searches across multiple search engines to learn about just who your contact is, what they may look like and who else may be talking about them. Installing Fields allows you to also save images, text and links to your Who Is scratch pad. If you do not create the custom fields in ACT! the “Edit” button in Who Is will be unavailable. You also have the option of not allowing the storage of images.
The Snapshot Contact rank feature provides another searchable ACT! field that allows you to rank your contact based upon any factor you choose. Just drag the slider bar or use the plus/minus buttons to give your contact your personal score.
The Snapshot Call List Lookup feature gives you the ability to create an ACT! Lookup out of your Call List contacts.
"Add fields for text storage only - no image storage"
Choosing this option will allow you to use the text and links storage in Who Is, but will not allow you to save images into your ACT! database. All custom ACT! fields will be created except for "Snapshot Image" field.
"Do not add fields..."
By selecting either of the "Do not add fields" radio buttons, custom ACT! fields necessary for FULL Snapshot functionality will not be installed.
Missing functionality #1
If you do not "Create Fields" in ACT!, the "Edit" button in Who Is will be unavailable. This means that you will not be able to store images, links or text that you find on the web about that contact. You will still be able to search the web for contact and company information, but you will not be able to store that information in your database.
Missing functionality #2
You will also not have access to the Contact Rank which allows you to rank your contact based upon any factor you choose. Full Snapshot functionality allows you to drag the slider bar, or use the plus/minus buttons to give your contact your personal score.
